When you say that a princess must capture the piece in the next space when moving "unicorn-like", does it mean that you cannot do the move if there is no piece to capture, or just that you must capture an enemy piece in that spot if there is one?

Your first interpretation is the correct one: If there is no piece to capture, the princess cannot make that move.

It is entirely possible for the board to be arranged in such a way that the princess can’t move at all using any of its three options, though I concede that achieving such an arrangment may not be easy.

When I first saw this game, I thought it was interesting but I was too lazy to assemble it and find other players.
The trailer for the computer version got my interest again.

Year late feedback but I found that the 3D models, while gorgeous, can be difficult to tell apart.
Do you know that Steam's Tabletop Simulator has a MLP:SaM mod? The game isn't free but the mod is.

I don’t have anything to do with any digital versions of the games—all of them are being developed independently of me—so you’ll have to talk to the fine folks who actually did the work. (I’m assuming you’re talking about this version.)

No, I wasn’t aware of the Tabletop Simulator version. That’s very exciting! Does it handle both the astral and terrestrial versions of the game?

Well, I do not know how familiar you are with TabSim but it is basically a physics engine for boards, figures, cards, dice and other traditional game elements, with tools that make it a piece of cake to slap any jpeg on these items and share the result with the world. What it does not do is keep track of what is a legal move and what isn't. In fact, they gave players the option to flip the table.

So yes, someone made a mod that handles both the astral and terrestrial versions of the game, in the sense that both boards are there. Also, someone else made a mod for the Funko figures of the Mane 6, so I guess you could use those instead of the pieces if you wanted to be silly.

That does sound interesting and amusing. :-) I had heard recently of Tabletop Simulator, but not any details.

Hi there!
How do you want us to credit you in the game? Should we use your real name or your username?

Hee! I saw the trailer mentioned on Equestria Daily, and I immediately went over to watch it. Congratulations! Cool music, and the user interface has some nice highlighting. Lots of work there, I imagine.

Thanks so much for the credit, though you folks may want to correct my user name in the description from “DPS” to “DTP” (for desktop publishing). I’m guessing whomever posted the trailer plays a lot of MMOs. :-)
